An Italian Plantasy

After an overwhelming response to our first Italy 2024 Getaway announcements, we’ve decided to add two more weeks on the beautiful Tuscan countryside! What could be better than August by the pool with a glass of wine, staring off at the Tuscan hills in the distance – surely nothing!

For this edition of our Italian holiday, we’ll be joined by none other than the School Night Vegan – Richard Makin! Our Italy trip involves two cooking demo experiences and there’s nobody more fun and creative to walk us through the making of some fabulous vegan dishes than Richard!

As always, we’ll call beautiful Panzano our home, and we’ll have the opportunity to indulge in a mouth-watering menu of veganized Italian food prepared by our very own private vegan chef, the fantastic Gabriele Palloni. We’ll reside at our home away from home, Pensione Vignamaggio, and throughout the trip we’ll embark on a day of vegan wine-tastings, traverse the varied landscape of colourful Cinque Terre, go on a guided tour of historical Florence and so much more! 

Italy is truly an amazing destination and we can’t wait to grab a glass of wine by the pool together!

Getaway Details

Saturday, August 10th: Check-in at Pensione Vignamaggio followed by welcome drinks and opening dinner party.
Sunday, August 11th: Family breakfast, wine tasting experience with lunch, dinner at hotel.
Monday, August 12th: Family breakfast, lunch at hotel, dinner cooking experience with School Night Vegan
Tuesday, August 13th: Family breakfast, day trip into Florence with guided tour, free time (dinner not included on this day). 
Wednesday, August 14th: Family breakfast, free time (lunch not included on this day), dinner cooking experience with School Night Vegan
Thursday, August 15th: Family breakfast, Cinque Terre excursion with lunch, dinner at hotel.
Friday, August 16th: Family breakfast, free time, lunch at villa, time to pack and enjoy Panzano, closing night dinner.
Saturday, August 17th: Family breakfast followed by check out and goodbyes.

Schedule details subject to change. All meals included unless otherwise mentioned.
The Getaway Co. groups are comprised of 15-20 participants of all ages (21+)

RICHARD MAKIN

Richard Makin is School Night Vegan! “As a long-time foodie, I had developed some pretty good cooking skills, but turning vegan was a whole new challenge! I had to retrain myself to cook without animal products. It was a surprisingly rewarding learning curve! I’m now a food stylist, recipe developer and food editor specialising in animal-free dishes.” -RM

Born and raised in Florence, Italy, Gabriele has worked as a chef in countless creative formats, has written three vegan cookbooks, and collaborates on all kinds of exciting vegan projects in Italy and beyond. Gabriele owns a vegan B&B in Florence, and works as a home chef spreading his message of antispeciesism across the nation.
