How We're Dealing with Covid - 19
At The Getaway Co. it is incredibly important to us that we offer you inspiring travel experiences that are above all, safe.
The situation with Covid-19 around the world is dynamic and ever-changing.
We are working hard to create policies that enable our groups to enjoy travel while following the government regulations in each of the locations we visit.

Attending our trips – In order to attend our trips, participants will need to follow the guidelines laid out by the country we are visiting. For example: for the summer/fall 2021 season, the EU is in the process of creating “digital green certificates” which will allow visitors who are vaccinated and in some cases, those who present a negative PCR test to travel to or within the EU.
These guidelines will apply for both our Italy and Portugal getaways and we will keep our group members updated on what they need to do to enter the EU at least one month prior to the trip. A similar plan is being worked on for Bali and we will of course also update our groups on the requirements to enter Indonesia in due time.
It will be the responsibility of our participants to establish what the rules are in the country they’re travelling from in order to fly out and return to that country, as our participants come from all over the world.
Privatization – At our Getaways, we stay in private villas, eat our meals as a group and participate in private group activities. We are not frequently exposed to large groups of additional people. Our trips generally take place in the summer and our meals are primarily eaten outdoors.
Masks/Sanitizer – The Getaway Co. will provide our groups with disposable masks and access to hand sanitizer. We will require our groups to wear masks only where it is required by the government in the country we’re visiting.
Cancellation due to Covid-19 – Should The Getaway Co. have to cancel any of our getaways as a result of circumstances related to the Covid-19 pandemic, we will provide our participants will a full refund (minus the nonrefundable deposit) or a credit for the full amount of their trip.
These circumstances could include: border closures in our host country, flight limitations or if a large number of group members are suddenly unable to attend due to reasons beyond anyone’s control. It is the responsibility of our participants to monitor the situation in their own countries as our participants come from all over the world.
Participant Cancellation – Should one of our participants have to cancel their trip, there are unfortunately no refunds. At that point we are committed to re-advertising the free spot and if we are able to fill it, we are happy to transfer to the spot to the new participant and provide a refund.
Insurance – There are many insurance companies around the world that have started providing insurance coverage for Covid-19 related issues. Here is a list as suggested by Forbes. Hey Mondo also offer some good options. Medical travel insurance is always mandatory on our trips. We HIGHLY recommend our participants get additional travel disruption insurance to help with costs should something go wrong.
With the rapid distribution of the Covid-19 vaccine around the world, we are continuing to see the numbers go down and we are thrilled that safe travel is once again becoming possible. We’re very grateful to have the opportunity to connect with like-minded groups of plant-based enthusiasts again in the latter half of 2021.
