Our Portugal Getaway has long been a favourite and continues to be one of the most loved experiences with The Getaway Co. In 2027, we are returning with an exciting new chapter, this time entirely centred in Porto. With its colourful riverside, rich history and incredible plant based food scene, Porto sets the stage for a week filled with connection, culture and unforgettable moments.
Guided once again by our wonderful local tour leader, Cátia Garcia, we will be immersed in the warmth and charm of northern Portugal from the moment we arrive.
Over the course of the week, we’ll enjoy a thoughtfully curated itinerary that blends guided experiences, free time and hands on culinary moments. Highlights include a walking tour of Porto’s historic centre, a day trip to Guimarães, and a traditional Rabelo boat cruise along the Douro River.
The best part is everything is fully vegan and fully organized. All you need to do is arrive at Porto airport and we will take care of the rest. Join us in 2027 for a beautifully curated week of food, culture, and connection in one of Europe’s most captivating cities!

Getaway Details
Saturday, May 22nd: Check-in at TBC, followed by welcome drinks, an opening dinner party and introductions.
Sunday, May 23rd: Breakfast at the hotel, a guided walking tour of Porto’s city center with lunch, free time and group dinner.
Monday, May 24th: Breakfast at the hotel, full-day tour of the historical city of Guimarães with lunch, free time to explore and group dinner.
Tuesday, May 25th: Breakfast at the hotel, morning Rabelo Boat Tour, free time in the afternoon (lunch not provided on this day), a vegan cooking experience with local Chef Sol Garcia, and group dinner.
Wednesday, May 26th: Breakfast at the hotel, excursion to the Minho region of Northern Portugal with a visit to Quinta Das Águias Animal Sanctuary including an organic local lunch, and group dinner.
Thursday, May 27th: Breakfast at the hotel, day trip to Costa Nova and Aveiro, group dinner.
Friday, May 28th: Breakfast at the hotel, free time to pack, group lunch, Duoro River cruise of the 8 bridges with port wine cellar visit, special closing night group dinner.
Saturday, May 29th: Family breakfast followed by check out and goodbyes.

All meals included except lunch on days 4 and 6 to provide the opportunity for free time.
Alcohol is not included except at wine tastings. Optional excursions will be offered during free time.
The Getaway Co. groups are comprised of approximately 15-25 participants of all ages (21+).
Disclaimer: A moderate level of fitness is required to fully participate in all elements of the Getaway, which may include hiking, walking, and other physical activities. Please ensure you are in suitable physical condition to take part before booking.

As a PR and event management expert, Amanda has over 20 years of experience working with everyone from Lady Gaga to Kendrick Lamar, to entrepreneurial groups, to corporate teams, and everyone in between! Having planned events and getaways in North America, Europe, Africa and Asia, she is both The Getaway Co’s founder and go-to inspiration captain!
CÁTIA GARCIA
As an official National Tour Guide in Portugal since 2001 — and a vegan herself — there’s no one better to have on The Getaway Co. team in Portugal than Cátia! The author of A Teia da Guia, a book about her adventures, Cátia invites you to experience this beautiful country through her words and eyes — to truly begin to understand the soul of Portugal.
CHEF Sol GARCIA
Chef Sol Garcia has been The Getaway Co.’s resident vegan chef in Portugal for several years and we love both her infectious personality and her delicious vegan cooking! She is very passionate cooking plant-based, colorful, fragrant, and delicious food and feels it’s an extension of who she am and what she tries to inspire in others. We can’t wait for you to taste her veganized traditional menus in beautiful Portugal!

Lianne is our Operations and Guest Experience Manager, with a background in hospitality, customer service, event management, and travel and tourism. She ensures every Getaway is executed seamlessly and is the go-to for guest questions. She’s also a former co-owner of a vegan catering business, bringing a touch of creativity and care to everything she does.
